Brides Get It In Writing!!!

without comments

Aloha Brides!

It’s the photographer’s wife again with some helpful advice.  Please, please, please when working with a vendor be sure to GET IT IN WRITING and ALWAYS READ YOUR CONTRACT!

You don’t want to be stuck with something you did not plan for or thought you paid for it and it wasn’t in the contract.  If you have it all in writing there will not be any misunderstandings of what has been agreed upon, even if it’s your friends that you’re hiring.  This will protect you, your vendor, and your friendship.

Always, always read the contract thoroughly.  Never sign something that you have not read through.  If you have questions on your contract ask your vendor before signing it.  Do not be shy about asking your questions, it’s your day.

Silence…

Silence is a great gift at times, for it is not the words spoken, but the presents of the LOVE that stands next to you.

Engagement Session, Is It Really Needed?

without comments

An engagement session, it is really needed?  Coming from a photographer’s point of view, YES!  Here are some of my reasons:

It helps to establish a relationship between you and I long before your wedding day and it will show in your wedding images.  I spend about 2 hours or so with the both of you, watching, listening and getting to know you, all while photographing you.  I take mental notes of your individual personalities and even your quirks, how you interact with each other and how you interact with me.  It helps me to learn how to communicate to you.

On your wedding day I won’t be your photographer, I will be Aaron your friend that happens to be a photographer that you happen to have hired.  When the walls are broken down and you trust that I will do my best and that I have your best interest at heart, you will be relaxed and comfortable and it will show in your images.

Most people are not comfortable with having a camera in their face, and this can be very intimidating.  Even for those who like to take pictures, especially those Facebook & Myspace snap shots, it is totally different when someone you hardly know is taking the shots; and I am up close and personal.  My whole job is to capture you all day long, along with every moment of the day.  People are not use to that, so the engagements session breaks the ice.

The engagement session allows you to get great shots for a slideshow, prints for the reception, “Save The Date” announcements, invitations, our new Engagement Books and it will help with completing the story of your album when I build it.

These are just a few of the reasons, but it gives you an idea. So think twice before booking without an engagement session.

I Love This Quote!

without comments

“Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you.  Jesus Christ & the American Warrior.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom!!!”

The part I like about this quote is that, Christ (my LORD) and the American Warrior are not prejudice, they are willing to die for all around the world not just our country, America.

Spend The Money!!!

with one comment

When it comes to your photography, don’t be cheap! Spend the money!  It may sound bias coming from a photographer, but your images are worth its weight in gold.  Too many of us undervalue images until it’s too late.  How many times have you heard friends or family say “I wish I had pictures” after the loss of a loved one, the birth of a child, or reminiscing about children who are all grown up. I’ve heard it too many times before…”I wish I had spent the money on a good photographer.”  Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event and should be treated as such.   A few years down the road from your big day, you’ll want to look back at images and remember the day as it happened.  We understand that a wedding is a big investment.  What better way to document all that you’ve invested by hiring a great photographer to do so.  Determine what is most important to you for your wedding and invest in it.  Your images are worth the investment and you’ll be thankful in the long run.

From the eyes of a photographer’s wife:

without comments

Before meeting my husband, the closest I got to a camera was a disposable.  I never owned a real camera.  I never really thought I needed one.  But seven years ago when I met Aaron it all changed for me.  At first I was hesitant to help Aaron, I thought of it as more work.  I already had a full-time job.  But, the more I learned how much photography meant to Aaron the more I grew to learn that it’s not just a job.  It’s another way to look at people, emotions, and God’s creation.

Aaron has opened my eyes to the beauty of nature, a father’s love of his keiki, the excitement of a bride and groom getting ready to see each other to say “I do”, and so much more.  Helping my husband on shoots and weddings has made me appreciate life and appreciate what God has given us, the beautiful colors of our sunsets, the tranquil Ko’olau Mountains, and the fierce waves of Pipeline. I’ve never looked at these the way I do now.

Being there to help Aaron photograph a couple’s wedding not only gives me more time to spend with him, but it also allows me to take part in a once in a lifetime event that celebrates a couple’s love.  Every wedding I’ve helped Aaron with I always tear up at the ceremony, which makes it hard to shoot.  I’m getting better at holding it back.  But I still get teary eyed.

Another Happy Bride

without comments

I think the best part of my job is when the bride is happy.  That’s my reward.

“Hello Aaron,

I just wanted to thank you again! We Love the photos and so does everyone else who sees them. You are the best! I have friends that have been asking if you do photos around CT, they all love your work just as we do. I don’t think I have ever liked any photos taken of myself let alone the many (by many I mean all!) you took. Thank you! a million times over again!

 Thank you again,
Irene”
